In 2018, 67% of French companies would have been victims of a cyberattack and 81% reveal to being badly prepared to this danger. This was revealed by the Cyber report 2019 conducted by the insurance company Hiscox, who investigated around 5400 companies in 7 different countries (Germany, Belgium, France, USA, Spain, the Netherland and the United Kingdom.)

CERT-FR

Created in February 2000 under the name CERTA, it is a government group which surveys, alerts and responds to IT attacks in France. It is a part of the international research of CERT (Computer Emergency Response Team.) Since January 2014, CERTA has been known as CERT-FR.

It is the first point of contact for any incidents of a cyber nature affecting France. The organisation proposes curative actions while complementing the preventative actions of the National Cybersecurity Agency (ANSSI.) It helps French administration organisations (ministries, institutions, jurisdictions, independent authorities, local authorities and essential operators) ‘put in place the necessary protection measures and to respond to incidents or to IT attacks which they are victim to.’

Accessible 24/7 and 7 days a week, its main missions are the following :

  • the detection of system vulnerabilities thanks to technology intelligence
  • the resolution of incidents, if there is a need with the worldwide network of CERT
  • help to put measures in place which protect from future incidents
  • the creation of a network of confidence

National Cybersecurity Agency

The main objective of the National Cybersecurity Agency (ANSSI) is to facilitate the consideration of cybersecurity issues in France, alongside different groups: administrations, companies of all sizes and individuals.

ANSSI raises awareness among these groups to the issues relating to digital security and puts in place a policy to promote a culture of cybersecurity. It offers support in the securing of information systems and proposes training actions.

The ANSSI website provides targeted and accessible information to all. You can find the main cybercrime threats, the precautions to take, the good practices to follow, the software recommended by ANSS, the existing training in cybersecurity as well as the agency news.

Zataz.com

Here is a French website that addresses the general public and covers the IT crime news. Created in 1998 by the journalist Damien Bancal, zataz.com offers a mine of information on cybersecurity. You will find articles, interviews and reports on IT hackers, data leaks, social media security, phishing and the protection of the private life of internet users. The site also proposes a personalised watch service so that you can be informed of data leaks that concern you.

L’Usine Digitale
